Jazzband deel 1 - Jazzband part 1.

Black Cat Bases has a nice assortment of realistic miniatures. This makes this company interesting and unique because most miniatures are fantasy miniatures.

Just like their christmasminiatures you can buy these musicians as a set of each apart. The set consists of a saxophone player, bass player, drummer and pianist.
My intention is to make a diorama of a rather dark, illegal-looking pub like a speakeasy during the American prohibiton (1920's).

The figures got a grey basecoat. I gave the musicians a black coat, red pants and shiny black shoes. A white shirt with red tie will finish their costume.

I had a lot of work with the drum. Only the bassdrum had all the visible metal parts of a real drum. For the other drums I had to freepaint the metal parts. The drumheads were weathered.
I used blue metallic paint to give the drum a nice finish that contrasts beautifully with the metal and the red pants of the drummer.

to be continued....
